PETROLEUM AND EXPLOSIVES SAFETY ORGANIZATION

Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization is a central government regulatory authority, works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. Formerly it was known as Department of Explosives.

This department has head office at Nagpur.

This department deals with  all types of fire catching materials, petroleum and its products and explosives manufacturing, storage, transportation, sale and usage.

The main laws and acts it handles are

1. Petroleum  Act 1934 & Petroleum Rules , 2002
2. Explosives Act 1884 & Explosives Rules, 2008
3. Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016
4. Ammonium Nitrate Rules
5. Static and Mobile Pressure Vessels rules, 2016
6. Explosive Substance Act
7. Calcium Carbide Rules, 1987
8. Inflammable substance act 1952
