1. Floor area required is 11 m2 per 1000 kg LPG storage.
2. Floor should be mastic flooring of minimum 25 mm thick as per IS 1195/IS 1196.
3. Ventilation should be 1.1 m2 per 1000 kg storage.
4. 50% ventilation should be given at floor level ( zero ground level to floor).
5. Ventilators should be fixed with "DOUBLE LAYERED WIRE MESH" of 11 openings per linear centimeter), made up of non corrodable metal (coppor, aluminium, stainless steel etc.)
6. Godown wall and compound wall should be minimum 23 cm thick.
7. Godown wall should be constructed with sand bricks only.
8. Safety distances as prescribed in GCR 2016.
9. Compound wall height should be 2 m.
10. Roof of godown must be non flammable and non metallic, the best is Asbestos sheet.
11. Loading and unloading area should in such a way that the cylinders carrying truck should be able to escape in case of emergency.
12. Loading and unloading area should be protected with 2m height compound wall and fixed with a 5 m width gate.
13. No electrical wiring should be given in the safety zone of the godown.
14. No high tension electrical lines should be passing over the site.
15. No public gathering places such as school, temple, meeting place, market etc with in 100 m radius from the middle of the godown.
16. 2 fire extinguisher cylinders of 10 kg DCP and 3 dry sand buckets (with canopy) and 3 water buckets are enough to fight in emergency fire. No water tanks, nor Fire Water lines required. Fire extinguishers are required only to extinguish explosion precursor fires only.
17. No flammable materials shall be stored/kept inside the safety zone.
18. Godwon gate and compound gate should be of 1.2 m width with double leaf doors (two doors) opening outside only (means shall not be able to open inside at all).
19. Ramp with mastic flooring from the godown gate to the safety zone shall be given.
20. Mobile phone, match box, other flammable material shall not be allowed into godown. Safety sign boards should be displayed.
21. Emergency phone numbers should be displayed outside the compound wall of the godown ( that public or other can also help by calling in case of emergency ).
22. Cylinders should be stacked as shown in PESO/CCE approved drawing. Two cylinders rows with 2 feet gap, to access each cylinder in case of emergency to evacuate the cylinder.
23. Data display about the Capacity, Stock data, Full and Empty cylinders etc should be displayed visibly.
24. No trees/greenery shall be planted in the godown area. Area should be flat or leveled.
